All India Council
of Muslim Economic Upliftment Ltd. Annual appeal for Food Relief Program 2024 |
A Public Trust Serving the Community
for last 40 years
AICMEU (All India Council of Muslim
Economic Upliftment Ltd.)
is
a social service organization registered as charitable company under Indian
Companies Act 1956 (vide No. 28920 / 82) and as public trust under Bombay
Public Trust Act 1950 (vide No. E - 10118 (B) / 85). During last 40 years AICMU
helped over 200 thousands through various services by its various schemes /
divisions.
While serving the poor and needy through various
schemes and services, we observed that sometime the top most priority of poor
people is food to survive. If we cannot send food to our brothers in Gaza, what
is obstructing us to feed poor in our society? On the day of Judgment we may
be asked about dues of poor and needy in our income because feeding the poor
and needy is vastly described in holy Quran and Sunnah. Let see some
references mentioned below. |
|
Significance
of Feeding Poor and Needy in Holy Quran and Sunnah
They
fulfill their vows, and fear a day the evil of which is wide-spread, and they give food, out of their love for Him (Allah), to the needy,
and the orphan, and the captive, (saying to them,) “We feed you
only for the sake of Allah; we have no intention of (receiving)
either a return from you or thanks. In fact, we are fearful of a day, from
the side of our Lord, that will be frowning, extremely
malignant.” (Al Quran 76: 8-10)
Who
is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan so that He may multiply it
to him many times? And it is Allah that decreases or increases (your
provisions), and unto Him you shall return.(Al Quran 2:245)
The example of those who spend in
the way of Allah is just like a
grain that produced seven ears, each ear having a hundred grains, and Allah multiplies (the reward) for whom
He wills. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.
(Al Quran 2:261)
So give to the kinsman his right, and to the needy and the
wayfarer. That is better for those who seek Allah's pleasure, and
it is they who will be successful. (Al Quran 30: 38)
You shall never attain righteousness unless you spend from what you
love. Whatsoever you spend, Allah is fully aware of it. (Al Quran 3:92)
So fear
Allah as much as ye can; listen and obey and spend in charity for
the benefit of your own soul and those saved from the covetousness of
their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.
(Al Quran 64: 16)
A
person asked Allah's Messenger ﷺ "What (sort of) deeds in or (what
qualities of) Islam are good?" He replied, "To feed (the poor) and
greet those whom you know and those whom you don't know.“Narrated by Abdullah bin 'Amr
Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 28In-book reference : Book 2,
Hadith 21
The
Prophet ﷺ said
"The one who looks after and works for a widow and for a poor person,
is like a warrior fighting for Allah's Cause or like a person who fasts
during the day and prays all the night.” Narrated Safwan
bin Salim Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 6006In-book reference : Book 78,
Hadith 37
The
Second Caliph of Islam Hazrat Umar (RA) introduced
monthly stipend for the poor from public treasury in terms of money as well as
in material. This practice of distributing stipend (in form of money
as well as food) also reflects the significance of food relief to the poor.
They ask you as to what they should spend. Say: “Whatever good you
spend should be for parents, kinsmen, orphans, the poor and the wayfarer;
and whatever good you do, Allah is all-aware of it.” (Al Quran 2: 215)
The teachings of holy Quran guides and Sunnah of Prophet
Muhammad ﷺ
guides us to channelize our savings (surplus income over expenditure) towards
welfare of parents, Kinsmen, orphans, the poor and the wayfarer. But
Shaitan (devil) guides towards misery and lust, so we
need to plan and act wisely.Everyone
among us is supposed to first spend on our family, friends / neighbours and relatives, followed by caring about the poor
and needy in the community. So, let's be
among the people who are highlighted in the holy Quran as owner of
Jannat.
Considering
Taamil Miskeen (Food Relief
to poor) as important to ensure Blessings of Almighty Allah, since COVID 19
lock down, we have been working to distribute basic grocery items to selected
poor families in targeted areas. During last 4 years we have distributed 2950
ration and 1557 Fitra kits.

During
food relief programs, we observed that around 20% persons living below poverty
line really deserves free ration support every month. But since we get
financial supports from donors mainly in the form of Zakat during Ramdha ul Mubarak, we observe
negligence about these very needy people for rest of 11 months. So this year we
appeal our donors to please consider sponsoring 700 Ramdhn
ul Mubarak Ration Kits @ Rs.
1,500 each, 500 Fitra Kits @ Rs.
600 each for distribution before March 2024 and 100 BPL Ration Kits @ Rs. 1,200 each in
rest of 11 months. The composition of proposed three different kind of kits for distribution is as below.
